Virtual Reality
I recently got a Virtual Reality headset. I got the Oculus Quest brand. I think VR is a really revolutionary kind of media. It overcomes a lot of the problems that I have with video games such as long hours spent on the couch, or the only true abilities being gained or thumb strength.
One of the games is called Beat Saber, and it is essentially a dance dance revolution for your hands as you wield light sabers and slice through boxes in rhythm with music. The game is some serious hand eye coordination as well as physically taxing. After some of the songs, it feels like I lift weights, or I will be sweating or out of breath.
I also have a game called Creed which is a boxing simulator. In a way, I am trying out boxing while never having to actually be hurt or hurt anyone. I feel like it is also a physical workout and improves my hand eye coordination.
I know that there have been video game attempts in the past to get people to work out like Wii Fit, or other Wii games, or even dance dance revolution. Other games tried to improve hand eye coordination like Guitar Hero or Rockband. However, I think Virtual Reality is revolutionary because it is so real and so fun. You really feel like you are holding light sabers. I have fallen over a few times while trying to lean against a wall to dodge bullets, or I have felt height dizziness while standing on a tower. I think that Virtual Reality is a very exciting form of entertainment, and definitely something that people should give a try.
